Stress Reduction Summer
A Message from our Program Director
We here at SHIFT Wellness talk a lot about reducing stress and increasing emotional resilience. Our training programs are designed to educate participants about the role of brain function during trauma or exposure to traumatic material. We understand what happens in the brain during such exposure is an autonomic response, in other words you can’t simply THINK your way out of trauma response. However, there are tools and techniques individuals can use to build emotional resilience and mitigate negative effects of chronic exposure, responses that can take a heavy toll on our personal wellness and impact our relationships with others.
This summer we will provide weekly focused information on various aspects of wellness to increase awareness and understanding of just how interconnected our mind, body and wellness truly are. We will offer simple tools that have great benefit in building personal resiliency. Personally, I need daily, sometimes hourly, reminders to turn my attention to self-care practices if I want to be the most productive and present in my work and home environments. Like everyone else, there are so many demands on my time and it very easy to let even the most minimal amount of self-care slip away. I am committed to practicing the simple tools and techniques we will be sharing during Stress Reduction Summer and I hope you will join me. Please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts about any or all of the techniques. Let us know what you like, what works well for you or even what feels really weird and frustrating. I look forward to sharing this journey!
